FIN DE SEMAINE DE MÉDITATION EN SILENCE/SILENT RETREAT WEEK-END

programme-retraite-septembre 18 2015

(English version follows)

The week-end of September 18-20 a small group of curious souls will gather in a magical forest to taste some moments of peace, the peace of the beautiful Laurentian mountains but also the inner peace that dwells within our hearts and minds. This precious peace can only be perceived in the deepest silence when the mind, confronted ceaselessly with thoughts, sensations and emotions, finally quiets down. Then the actor becomes the spectator, the load of the performer is dropped and there is an “Aha! moment”.

We are all capable of experiencing this moment, long time meditators as well as beginners.  In fact, in Zen the beginner’s mind is very much praised as the less pre-conceived ideas we have the easiest meditation becomes. You must however be prepared to sit still for 15 min. periods.  If the cross-legged posture is too painful you can sit on a chair. There will be yoga stretches and “pep talks” to soothe bodies and minds and free time for contemplation or walks in nature.

I will be assisting Jean Christophe, a perfect host, organizer and teacher and a generous karma yogi will prepare delicious meals.  Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your practice and celebrate the Fall equinox, a sacred time for balance and contemplation.

Hope to see again.

About suryasanmiguel

I'm a Yoga teacher and educator. I was born in Madrid, Spain and came to Canada in the 70's to study but remained here. I received a degree in Education from McGill University. In my student's years I had the good fortune of meeting my Zen teacher, Roshi Phillip Kapleau and I studied with him for 15 years attending numerous retreats. In 1988 I was also very fortunate to meet Swami Vishnudevananda at the Sivananda Yoga Camp in Quebec where I became a certified Yoga teacher My interest in Budhism and Hinduism also led me to meet several Tibetan Lamas and study their teachings and traditions. I live presently in Montreal, Canada but travel frequently teaching Yoga and giving workshops and lectures on spiritual related topics.

Good morning Surya and thank you for the email. I am interested in the October sessions. Will you be present in October or only Sept 18-20?Also, I don’t drive. Perhaps I could take the shuttle from the Montreal Sivananda Centre on Friday afternoon and leave for Montreal on Sunday (if they don’t mind waiting until the retreat is completed by 3pm). Do you know if the talks will be bilingual? Thanks again for sharing! Vanessa

    • Good morning Vanessa, So far I am only scheduled for the Sept. 18-20 retreat. For the driving I am sure you can come with another participant. Pls. mention it to Jean Christophe when you reserve and also about the talks being in English. I am sure we can make them bilingual. Hopefully I’ll see you in September!
