About

I’m a Yoga teacher and educator. I was born in Madrid, Spain and came to Canada in the 70’s to study but remained here. I received a degree in Education from McGill University.
In my student’s years I had the good fortune of meeting my Zen teacher, Roshi Phillip Kapleau and I studied with him for 15 years attending numerous retreats.
In 1988 I was also very fortunate to meet Swami Vishnudevananda at the Sivananda Yoga Camp in Quebec where I became a certified Yoga teacher
My interest in Budhism and Hinduism also led me to meet several Tibetan Lamas and study their teachings and traditions.
I live presently in Montreal, Canada but travel frequently teaching Yoga and giving workshops and lectures on spiritual related topics.

    Hello Surya,

I attended your course in Val Morin (21-22 june weekend) and I enjoyed it alot. It was very interesting to hear your views on religion, god, yoga and meditation. I am wondering where I can read more about it, particularly about Lord Krishna being symbol o love, Saraswati representing wealth of wisdom, etc?

    • Om Varun! I’m glad you enjoyed the workshop. I would recommend reading Meditation and Mantras by Swami Vishnudevananda where he explains the significance of the different deities or aspects of the divine, mantras, etc… But if you want to go deeper into Lord Krishna’s teachings then you can study the Bhagavat Gita with commentaries by Swami Sivananda. There Krishna talks about the four paths of yoga with a special preference for Bhakti Yoga, the path of the heart. By the way, Krishna’s mantra is OM NAMAH VASUDEVAYA.
